Trevor Andrews’ exciting filly Luana Miss has secured her place in WA’s richest race for slot holder TABtouch. It will be Andrews’ first runner in the race, with the rising star aiming to become the first three-year-old to claim the Ascot 1200m feature.
Boasting four wins from just seven starts, the highlight of her burgeoning career came in last year’s $500,000 Placid Ark Stakes. Sent out as a short-priced favourite, Luana Miss endured a moment of concern when held up approaching the final furlong. But once Shaun O’Donnell found clear air, she exploded to the line, “like a shot out of a gun barrel,” as race caller Darren McAullay described, surging clear to score emphatically and stamp herself a filly of genuine class.
She now looks to break new ground in The $5m Quokka. While Amelia’s Jewel, Super Smink and Petula have all taken their place in the feature, no three-year-old has ever won the race. Amelia’s Jewel famously finished runner-up in both the 2023 and 2024 editions of the race.
