IMPORTANT UPDATE: Drummond Golf WA Oak’s Day
Racing WA and Perth Racing have been in discussions all this week regarding the meeting scheduled at Ascot for 28 March 2026 and met again this morning at 9am.
The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that the forecast is improving steadily, with Cyclone Narelle tracking further eastwards than was originally expected and the risk of very strong winds has diminished.
As at 9.30 this morning, Ascot has only received 4mm of rain, all of which has fallen since 4am, and current conditions are very light, sporadic rain, despite the forecast predicting heavy falls throughout this morning.
Therefore, Racing WA and Perth Racing will meet again at 3pm this afternoon (Friday) to reassess and further updates will be issued at that point.
There is obviously still the threat of very heavy rain overnight, which may impact the meeting.
We do appreciate that it is frustrating to have uncertainty, but we are mindful of giving the meeting every opportunity to proceed as scheduled, given that horses have carefully planned campaigns leading to feature races later in the carnival.
In the event that Saturday can not proceed as planned, Racing WA and Perth Racing are committed to rescheduling all races, to take place in the coming week.
