The $1.5M Group 1 MCA Polytrack-Winterbottom Stakes headlines Day 3 of The TABtouch Pinnacles this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse. It’s shaping up to be a battle between Sydney sprinter Overpass, and local short-course specialist Jokers Grin.
Ascot’s 1200m specialist Overpass returns chasing history, aiming to become the first horse to win three Winterbottoms. The Bjorn Baker–Josh Parr partnership brings formidable form, boasting four wins from five attempts with Overpass, over the Ascot 1200m.
Looking to spoil the party is local star Jokers Grin, partnered by Patrick Carbery. The Joker famously toppled Overpass in this year’s $5M Quokka, setting the stage for another compelling clash in today’s Group 1 sprint.
Overpass enters the race fresh, coming off a brilliant fourth in The Everest on Saturday 18 October – Australia’s richest race with a $20M prize pool. Known for producing his best runs fresh, he arrives primed for another peak performance.
Jokers Grin, meanwhile, lines up with two Asct Group 3 wins over 1000m and 1100m to his name and will look to hit his peak third-up this campaign.
