We wanted to confirm that tomorrow’s race meeting at Ascot will proceed as planned, with no changes to timings. Gates open at 10am, our first race is 11.54am and our feature race, The Gold Rush is at 4.58pm.

As per the Racing WA ‘Hot Weather Policy’, with the temperature forecast to be above 35 degrees (but below 38 degrees) for part of tomorrow afternoon, patrons may see some operational changes in place for at least some of the day. These are designed to reduce the amount of time that horses, jockeys and strappers are out in the heat. These may include:

  • Parading horses only in the back Parade Ring (and not the Mounting Yard) before racing
  • Having horses return directly back to the back Parade Ring/day stalls after races are complete
  • Reducing the amount of time that jockeys are mounted and that horses are out on track/behind the barriers

If these are in force, we will make announcements over the public address system. Ascot is obviously used to racing in the summer months in Perth, and we are well set up to ensure the highest standards of participant welfare, including misting systems throughout the day stalls, air conditioned stabling available, cold-water wash down bays and chilled water for horses freely available as standard.

For patrons, the grandstand is fully air conditioned, with the lower ground and first floors available to all attendees at Ascot. There is free drinking water available at all bars and function areas, please ensure you stay hydrated.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ascot tomorrow.
