Ms Carol Adams OAM
Chair

First appointed in 2022, Carol Adams OAM created history for the Club when unanimously elected as the first female Chair of Perth Racing in October 2024.

Carol brings to Perth Racing an extensive and distinguished background in the local government sector as well as strong legal, governance and strategic planning experience. Carol was an inaugural board member of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority as well as a member of several professional and not for profit, and voluntary associations. Carol is the current Chair of the Local Government Advisory Board and a member of the South Metropolitan Tafe’s Governing Council, which oversees the strategic direction of its 13 campuses.

Carol places a strong community and stakeholder engagement lens over the board’s strategic direction and decision making. She is a part owner of racehorses, the most notable of which is an involvement in multiple stakes winner, LET’S GALAHVANT.

Mr Evan Stewart
Vice Chair

Re-elected in 2023, Evan brings over 30 years’ experience in the Sport and Recreation Industry in Western Australia and overseas, including the Western Australian Institute of Sport, the Department of Sport and Recreation, as the Deputy CEO and Acting CEO of Basketball WA and now as the General Manager of Government Relations and Legacy at RugbyWA.

Evan served on the Baseball WA Board for 6 years, (3 as Chair), Baseball Australia for 5 years, and as President at the Carine Cats Ball Club. He has been a member at Perth Racing for more than 10 years.

Mr Guy Chalkley
Director

Appointed in 2018 and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee, Guy has more than 30 years’ financial and operational experience across a diverse range of sectors, operating and residing in most continents. A financially trained professional, specialising in bridging the gap between operations and finances, linking strategy to business practices, Guy is currently the CEO of Endeavour Energy. Customer focused, with a strong emphasis on team building and diversity, Guy brings a wealth of knowledge to to the Board, sharing wider global perspectives.

Mr Peter Scott
Director

Elected in 2021 and re-elected in 2024, Peter became a WATC member in 1975, and has passionately supported racing ever since. He has owned and bred successful racehorses for over 25 years. A Psychologist with a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counselling, Peter is Executive Chair of his own National company. Peter has also previously served as a City of Stirling Councillor and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Director

Appointed in 2022 and elected in 2024, Chair of the People & Culture Committee, Jo Davies has over 30 years’ experience of working and volunteering in the sport and recreation industry at local, state, national and international levels. She is currently General Manager, Community Cricket at the WA Cricket Association and a member of the National Community Cricket Leadership Team. She is a Director of East Perth Football Club and was formerly Chair of East Perth District Development Council.

Elected in 2024, Derrice Dillon (Parnham) brings a vast knowledge and experience of many aspects of the Racing Industry.  She has forged a career away from racing and held positions in Administration, Company Secretarial and CFO of ASX listed entities and Board Positions on both public and private companies.

Her experience enhanced by exposure through a wide range of industries Marine, Oil and Gas, Finance, Insurance Broking, Property Investment, Travel and Retail.

She is a racehorse owner and passionate about the future growth and success of Western Australian Racing.

Appointed in July 2025, Mick Hannam brings over 30 years of leadership across mining, oil & gas, marine and logistics and manufacturing in international operations. He is the founder of a successful company specialising in risk, safety, training, and compliance, managing teams across Australasia.

Passionate about innovation, strategic planning, contractor management and practical risk solutions, Mick is also a respected leader in crisis and emergency management. Based in Perth, he owns a wheatbelt farming property and racehorses.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety.

Nick Sloan
Director

Appointed in August 2025, Nick Sloan brings significant experience of working across all three levels of Government.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Western Australian Local Government Association and has worked in Ministerial offices in State Government as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Local Government and Community Services, and Principal Policy Advisor to the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Racing and Gaming.

He has extensive experience as a Senior Executive in State Government, including roles in regional Western Australia. During this time, he managed complex policy agendas and capital projects at both State and Local Government level.

His career spans major infrastructure projects, complex property transactions, and a broad range of corporate transactions. Michael has also built a strong track record in Board leadership and governance, having held multiple Directorships.

His previous roles include serving as Company Secretary for an ASX-listed oil and gas company and acting as a Councillor for the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Michael contributes valuable strategic insight and governance acumen to the Board.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he is an accomplished equestrian, having competed at the elite level in eventing, and remains actively involved in thoroughbred racing and the welfare of retired racehorses.
