Top WA jockey William Pike faced a difficult choice of rides for the Group 1 TABtouch-Northerly Stakes on Saturday 6 December. Pike steered both Watch Me Rock to victory in the Swan Draught-Railway Stakes and King Of Light in the Group 2 W.A. Guineas, both over 1600m.
Pike told Racing.com: “This really was one of the hardest decisions of my career, but I have gone with the three-year-old King Of Light.”
Pike has ridden King Of Light to all five of his wins, with the Dan Morton-trained rising star remaining unbeaten and currently sitting as the $2.70 favourite on TABtouch futures markets for the Northerly. Pike is a two-time Northerly winner, both aboard three-year-olds, and under weight-for-age conditions, King Of Light will carry 52.5kg.
His decision opens the door for 66-time Group 1 winner Nash Rawiller to take the ride on Watch Me Rock.
